Chapter 2: Spectrum system installation
NOTE:
Failure to connect reference video may result in errors. Note that two MediaPort
7000 or ChannelPort modules can share reference video as long as it is connected
to one module. Also note that reference can be shared across two SDI I/O cards in a
Spectrumunits to the automation system.
Connecting reference video to a MediaPort 7000 or a ChannelPort
module
Connect reference video to at least one MediaPort or ChannelPort module in a MediaPort 7000 series
chassis.
Note that you may connect a different type of reference (525 or 625) to each module in a MediaPort 7000
serieschassis and the system will automatically select the correct reference type for each attached player.
IMPORTANT:
Failure to connect reference video may result in errors.
Figure 2-34: Connecting to reference video
1. Connect reference video to one of the Reference connectors on the MediaPort or ChannelPort
module.
2. Connect a75 Ohm BNC terminator to the other Reference connector to terminate it, or connect it to
the next device in line that requires reference video. Termination must be applied to the last device in
the loop.
3. If required, configure VITC lines using SystemManager. For certain automation systems, VITC
timecode on the reference video line allows the system to run accurately. For complete instructions,
refer to the
Harmonic SystemManager User Guide
.
Connecting reference video to Spectrum X
Make sure to always connect reference video to at least one SDI I/O card on the Spectrum X. If your
Spectrum X includes two SDI I/O cards, one card passes reference through to the other.
Note that you may connect a different type of reference (525 or 625) to each SDI I/O card. However, note
that each player attached to a given SDI I/O card must be configured for the same reference.
IMPORTANT:
Failure to connect reference video may result in errors.
