Handling device upgrade failures
• Verify that start up is complete
• Ensure that the most recent release of SystemManager has been installed.
• Ensure that no recording or playback is taking place on the entire system.
• Ensure that no file copies or transfers are in progress.
• Stop the file system on every Spectrum video server in your system.
Upgrade all Spectrum servers at the same time. Before commencing any player or file activity, verify
that all Spectrum servers and I/O modules are running the same version of firmware as shown on the
SystemManager's Upgrade Firmware page under the Home tab.
1. With the SystemManager software properly installed, log on to the application.
2. On all Spectrum server to which the disk drives are attached, stop all playback and recording
activities, and stop all file systems.
3. Click the
Home
tab.
4. Click the
Firmware Selection
icon to display the Firmware Selection page.
5. Click the radio button for the desired version of firmware. When the Confirm dialog appears, click
OK
.
6. Click the
Configuration
tab.
7. Click the
Disk Utilities
icon to display the Disk Utilities page for all Spectrum servers.
8. Click the Spectrum server whose disk drive(s) you want to upgrade. The Disk Utilities page for the
selected unit appears.
9. At the bottom of the page, click
Upgrade Disk Firmware
. The Upgrade Drive Firmware page for the
selected unit appears.
10. Click the check boxes for the drives whose firmware you want to upgrade, or (recommended) click
Select all Disks.
NOTE:
You cannot have disks with different revisions within a RAID set.
11. Click the
Start Upgrade Firmware
button to display the Upgrade Disk Drives Now dialog.
12. Click
OK
to upgrade the selected disk drives, or click
Cancel
to exit the procedure safely without
upgrading.

Handling device upgrade failures
If a failure occurs when upgrading a device, the SystemManager will generate an Upgrade Failed alarm.
When this occurs, the SystemManager will not let you perform another upgrade until the alarm is cleared.
Follow these instructions to clear the alarm:
1. Click on the
Diagnostic
tab on the SystemManager’s menu bar.
2. Click on the
View Alarms
icon in the left hand column to display the View Alarms page.
3. Click the
Clear Alarms
button to clear all the listed alarms.
