MediaCenter 2200B hardware reference
The Spectrum MediaCenter 2200B is a media server and a media store combined in a compact 2-RU
chassis.
The MediaCenter 2200B provides file system and communication management for video and audio ingest
and playout activities. MediaCenter coordinates connectivity between external Spectrum MediaPorts,
ChannelPorts, or Spectrum X and the integrated storage subsystem.

About the MediaCenter 2200B
The MediaCenter 2200B provides a compact media server solution for up to 24 channels, and up to 32-
TB of usable storage.
Up to 10 Spectrum MediaPorts, ChannelPorts, or Spectrum X devices can be connected to the
MediaCenter for real-time ingest and playout of video and audio content.
Internal storage, via SAS disk drives, uses secure RAID-6 topology with dual-parity protection.
For additional storage, you can connect the MediaCenter to the MediaStore 7200 via SAS. The
MediaCenter 2200B provides one SAS connector. The MediaCenter 2200B-DS provides two SAS
connectors for redundancy.
The Gigabit Ethernet connectivity is a standard implementation of high speed Ethernet for non-real time
asynchronous file transfer and support of FTP, Samba, and AFP (Apple
®
Filing Protocol) protocols.
CAUTION:
MediaCenter run on a non-standard Linux operating system. Do not edit
files manually, or run Linux-type commands via the shell unless instructed to do so by
Technical Support, or the product documentation. Be aware that If you manually edit files,
any changes made may be overwritten when daemons restart, the system reboots, or
during system upgrades. Modifying files by hand and/or running Linux-type commands may
seriously impact functionality and performance.
NOTE:
There are no user-serviceable parts in a MediaCenter 2200B.
