MediaStore 5100 and 5000 series power cooling modules (PCMs)
Two hot-swappable power cooling modules (PCM) with integral cooling fans are mounted in the rear of
the MediaStore. The position of the components may vary slightly according to installation, as the PCM
on the right-hand side when facing the rear of the MediaStore is installed
upside-down
.
Note the following important points regarding the power supplies:
• The MediaStore 5000 series must always be operated with two Power Supply modules installed. The
two modules operate together so that if one fails, the other maintains the power supply and cooling
while you replace the faulty unit.
NOTE:
With both Power Supplies installed and turned on, disk spin-up time is
significantly faster.
• When replacing a faulty PCM, do not leave the PCM slot empty for more than ten minutes. Doing so
will cause the MediaStore to overheat, which will result in component failure.
