Clock Setting

When used autonomously (the factory setting), a quartz crystal oscillator controls clock timing. After you

apply power to the console, you must manually set the clock to the current time using the three recessed

buttons near the clock display (Figure 2-15).

Figure 2-15. Clock Setting Procedure

The three recessed buttons have these functions:

The Hour Set button (at the bottom) adjusts the hours display.

The Minute Set button (in the middle) adjusts the minutes display.

The Hold button (at the top) freezes the clock time so that it can be manually synchronized to a local

time reference. Set the time slightly ahead of the reference time and then press Hold. Release Hold

when the time display matches the reference time.

Note:  When the clock is slaved to an ESE or SMPTE master clock, and the master clock signal is

not present, the clock reverts to its internal oscillator and both display colons blink to

indicate the selected ESE or SMPTE timecode is not being detected or is not valid.

The clock maintains accurate time for about three days with the console powered off. After this period, the

time needs to be reset when autonomous mode is being used.

Console Display Setup Switches

To access the console display setup switches, remove the DirectView display’s rear cover. On a Dual Meter,

the rear cover is fastened to the console by two black #1 Phillips screws. On a Quad Meter, the rear cover is

fastened by three #1 Phillips screws. Remove and retain these screws, and then pull off the display’s rear

cover.
A Dual Meter has one circuit board (Figure 2-16) which is used to set the two meters. A Quad Meter has a

second board, called the two-meter board. It also has a setup switch labeled DS3 (but turned 90

º

 on the

board) with the same functions as in Figure 2-16. It affects the Program 1 and Program 2 meters in a Quad

Meter while the meter-clock-time board’s DS3 switches affect the Program 3 and Auxiliary meters. Typically,

both DS3 multi-switches are set to the same positions on the two boards.
