Spinner Mounting Plate, on the Aircraft Engine

OF SPECIFIC PROPELLER CRITICAL
PARTS.
NOTE: Some -5 propellers were previously manufactured
with a one-piece spinner mounting plate. The
spinner bulkhead, which has start locks mounted
on it, is attached to the spinner mounting plate.
The spinner mounting plate is installed in a
cutaway portion of the propeller hub flange and is
“pinched” between the propeller hub flange and
the engine flange. Refer to Figure 3-11.
WARNING
:
MAKE SURE THE SLING IS RATED UP
TO 800 LBS (363 KG) TO SUPPORT THE
WEIGHT OF THE PROPELLER ASSEMBLY
DURING INSTALLATION.
CAUTION:
WHEN INSTALLING THE PROPELLER
ON THE AIRCRAFT, DO NOT DAMAGE
THE ICE PROTECTION SYSTEM
COMPONENTS, IF APPLICABLE.
(1) With a suitable crane hoist and sling, carefully move
the propeller assembly to the aircraft engine mounting
flange.
(2) Make sure the propeller hub flange and engine flange
mating surfaces are clean.
(3) Install the specified O-ring on the engine flange. Refer to
Table 3-1.
