Polished gray soapstone is a natural product and will vary from 

stone to stone. Various amounts of gray, charcoal, blue and green 
will be evident according to the natural composition of the stone.

defined as thermal capacitance or quantity of heat stored.  

Used here, it refers not just to burn time, but also to hours 
of usable heat obtained from a single load of fuel.

of firebox volume can vary from 15 to 36 lbs. per cubic 
foot depending on type of wood, moisture content, packing 
density and other factors.  As a constant for comparison
