Assembly
Maintenance- and assembly work must only be carried out by authorised personnel in accordance with
this operating instruction as well as the regulations in force!
The fans are delivered in series as complete unit, i.e. ready for installation. Protective devices, which were removed for
assembly work, should be replaced immediately after the assembly (and before connecting the electricity ) . Assemble
fans in such a way that the stability is guaranteed at all times during operation. Secure EC-centrifugal roof fans by the
base frame to the roof base as instructed. No forces or vibrations should be transferred to the fan from plant compo
nents. Use flanged flexible connectors (Type STS, accessories) to connect to ducting and to prevent vibration trans-
mission.
3.1
Installation
The installation site must be suitable for the respective fan as regards category, condition, ambient temperature and
ambient medium. The foundation structure must be level and of sufficiently goog bearing. The mounting surface must
be horizontal as possible, however mounting on a sloping surface with an inclination angle of up to 25° (e.g. with cor-
rugated roof base type WSD, accessories) maximum is possible.
The series may not be operated in potentially hazardous atmospheres!
3.2
Fastening
The EC-centrifugal roof fan is designed for the base assembly. For fastening to the base four holes are drilled in the
base plate of the fan. Place roof fan with base plate on the base (see accessories or build base on site). Consider for
this the respective installation and operating instructions to the flat roof bases. Tighten base screws evenly to avoid
warping. After mounting check that impeller rotates freely. Check the stability of the fan against collapse! A safe, dura-
ble fastening of the device as well as free accessibility to terminal box (under cowl) and motor-impeller-unit has to be
paid attention to.
3.3
Electrical connection
All work must be carried out with the equipment fully isolated from the power supply. All work may only be
carried out by a qualified person.
- All relevant national and international safety and installation regulations are to be adhered to.
- Equipment in accordance with EN 60204 / DIN VDE 0113 is to be installed as protection during unexpected events
( isolation switch for inspections incl. in delivery).

Final start-up
Before the final start-up the following checks are to carried out:
– Check intended use of fan
– Compare power supply voltage with data on the rating plate
– Check if fan is securely mounted and electrical connection is carried out professionally.
– Check all parts are secure, especially screws, nuts, grille for proper fixing.
– Test unhindered running of impeller
Note: Turning the impeller by hand a slight jerk is noticeable by the permanent magnets. This is technically related
and correct!
– Caution, do not grab into rotating components! Danger of injury
– Compare current consumption with data on the rating plate.
– Test protective conductor connection
– Check sealing of the connection cable and tight clamp of the cable wires
– Start-up only if protection against accidental contact with impeller is guaranteed. (see point 1.14 and 4.1)
– Check tightness of all connections (if necessary).
– Remove assembly residuals from fan and duct.
– Check the fan for inadmissible vibrations and noises.
– Connect controller e.g. PU 10
4.1
Protection against accidental contact
Check whether all mechanical and electrical protective devices are fitted and connected. If fan inlet
openings are easily accessible due to the particular application then protective guards must be fitted in accor-
dance with DIN EN 13857! The safety devices have to be designed in a way that a dropping or sucking in of
object will be excluded (see point 1.14)
4.2
Operation
Check the proper functioning of the fan regularly:
– Unhindered running of impeller.
– Current consumption measurement
– Checking for possible vibrations and noises
– Dirt and dust build-up in the casing and/or at the motor and impeller.
