6 Commissioning
Inspect the pump before commissioning and conduct a
functional check. When doing this pay special attention to
the following:
- Turn the motor shaft repeatedly by hand!
- Never allow the pump to run dry!
- Are the pump and pipelines properly con-
nected?
- Has the electrical connection been estab-
lished in accordance with the applicable
regulations?
- Is the temperature monitor connected?
- Is the motor circuit breaker set correctly?
- Is the oil filling in the Seal-Guard-System
(if present) visible and sufficient in the sight
glass?
- Is the ETS X4 connected (if present)?
- Is the direction of rotation of the pump also
correct when operated via an emergency
generator?
- Are the gate valves open that are required
for operation?
- Is the pump properly mounted?
- Are the inlets and outlets of the pumping
station free from danger and have they
been inspected?
Caution!
Dry running the pump will destroy the
mechanical seal!
Before starting the pump fill the pump
and supply pipe with the pumped
medium.
Then de-aerate.
The ball valve (006) in the intermediate casing (113) is used
for de-aerating the pump. For pumps of the herborner.X-C
model, the ball valve (006) is located in the return pipe (702)
on the block motor (802).
The following label is located in the vicinity of the ball valve
(006):
Figure 6 De-aeration label
The label says that the ball valve (006) should be closed
after de-aerating.
Follow the instructions on the label.
Important!
On pumps of the herborner.X-C model, check the flow in
the supply and return lines after de-aerating during com-
missioning.
Important!
Operate installed reserve pumps alternately by using the
controller.
This ensures the operational readiness of the pumps.
In case of an anti-flooding design:
Caution!
Solid particles in the sealing area of
the shaft sealing ring prevent precise
sealing!
Do not operate pumps of the
herborner.X-C model with anti-flooding
design after flooding.
Check the shaft area and shaft sealing
ring for cleanliness and solid particles
and clean them with water if necessary.
After that, the pump can be operated
again.
