(a) Front brake system (Disc type)
Front brake fluid
Brake fluid recommended: DoT 3 or DoT 4
The level decreases gradually due to piston
movement to compensate pad wear. If the
level decreases abruptly, check for leakage in
the brake system and contact your Authorised
Hero MotoCorp workshop
.
Master cylinder/Reservoir
To access the master cylinder (1) remove the
headlamp case
(page 39)
.
Fluid level: Ensure that the brake fluid level
does not fall below “MIN” mark (2) on the
master cylinder, when checked with the
master cylinder parallel to the ground.

Independent use of only the front or rear
brake increases stopping distance.
•
All your actions should be smooth under
these
conditions. Sudden acceleration,
braking or turning may cause loss of control.
For your safety, exercise extreme caution
when braking, accelerating or turning.
•
When riding in wet or rainy conditions, or on
loose surfaces the ability to stop the vehicle
reduces.
•
Wherever possible, reduce speed or apply
brake before entering a turn, closing the
throttle or braking in mid turn may cause
wheel slip. Wheel slip will reduce control
over the vehicle.
•
Extreme braking may cause wheel locking
and reduce control over the vehicle.
(b) Brake pad wear
Brake pad wear depends upon the severity of
usage, the type of riding & road conditions.
Generally, the pads will wear faster on wet &
•
Check the brake pads for wear by
examining the wear limit grooves on each
pad.
•
Always replace both the pads as a set.
dirty roads. Inspect the pads at each regular
maintenance interval.

Check the wear indicator grooves (1) on
each pad.
Inspection
•
Replace the pads if worn out to the bottom
of the groove.
NOTE
Always contact
Hero
your Authorised
MotoCorp
workshop for refilling of master
cylinder when necessary. Do not mix DoT 3
and DoT 4 brake fluid.
