Overview of IP-Code components (extract)
The protection classes are indicated by an abbreviation which is comprised of the letters IP
(International Protection) and which always remain the same, followed by two code num-
bers which represent the degree of protection. The first code number represents the degree
of protection against contact and foreign bodies, and the second represents the degree of
protection against damage caused by water penetration.
