exceeds 8, or if the number of the ports exceeds 16, the scheduling mode
of the NIC that has the largest PCI bus number among the existing
shared-mode NICs changes to the dedicated mode (so that the number of
controllers and the number of ports on the shared-mode NICs are within
the upper limits).
•
If the NIC for which the scheduling mode changed as above has been
allocated to an existing LPAR, the NIC allocation to that LPAR is released.
•
If these changes occur, one of the messages below is recorded in the LP
system log messages. A log message is also recorded in the system event
log (SEL) of the system unit, and an alert is sent to HCSM.

0xFF40 Warning
The scheduling mode for a NIC assigned to an LPAR was changed.
0xFF41 error
An error event on a management NIC was detected.
0xFF42 Warning
A warning event on a management NIC was detected.
0xFF43 Information LP started, with the specified ports set as the LP management NIC
ports.
0xFF44 error
An error event occurred on the management NIC port.
0xFF45 Warning
A warning event occurred on the management NIC port.
0xFF46 Information An event occurred on the management NIC port.

If an LPAR for which the NIC allocation is released exists, the LPAR
manager starts in the safe mode and the following operations are
disabled.
¢
Activating LPARs
¢
Saving the configuration
If LPAR manager changes to the safe mode, confirm the ports specified as
the management path and the configuration of the LPAR for which
allocation is released, and modify the configuration if needed.
After confirming the LPAR configuration, release the safe mode and then,
if needed, save the configuration. Alternatively, if the ports specified as
the management path are incorrect, shut down LPAR manager and then
specify the correct ports.
