8. Rotary File
Optional accessories are subject to change without
notice.
APPLICATIONS
䡬
Drilling holes in various metal, lumber and plastics.
䡬
Finishing lumber surface, sanding metal, removing
rust, removing paint coatings.
䡬
Tightening small screws, wood screws, and self-
tapping screws for aluminum sashes.
䡬
Tightening nuts and bolts.
䡬
Tapping various metal and aluminum.
PRIOR TO OPERATION
1. Power source
Ensure that the power source to be utilized conforms
to the power requirements specified on the product
nameplate.
2. Power switch
Ensure that the power switch is in the OFF position.
If the plug is connected to a receptacle while the
power switch is in the ON position, the power tool
will start operating immediately, which could cause
serious injury.
3. Extension cord
When the work area is not near a power source.
Use an extension cord of sufficient thickness and
rated capacity. The extension cord should be kept
as short as possible.
4. Confirm the direction of bit rotation
The bit rotates clockwise (viewed from the tool grip
end) when the reversing switch lever is set to the
“R” side position. When the lever is set to the “L”
side position, the bit rotates counterclockwise and
can be used to loosen and retract screws, as shown
in
Fig. 1
.
CAUTIONS
䡬
Always keep the super drill rotation clockwise when
using it as a sander or polisher.
䡬
Never change the direction of the bit rotation while
the motor is running. To do so would seriously
damage the motor. Turn the power switch to the
OFF position before changing the direction of the
bit rotation.
5. Confirm the setting of the clutch ring
(1) When using the Super Drill as a drill, sander,
polisher, or tapper.
When using the super drill as a drill, sander, polisher
or tapper, rotate the clutch ring counterclockwise
(viewed from the front) and align the red circle on
the clutch ring with the Drill Mark engraved on the
drill body, as shown in
Fig. 2
.
CAUTION
Should the clutch ring stop during rotation, slightly
rotate the drill chuck and attempt to turn the clutch
ring further.
However, do not attempt to force the clutch ring
when it is too close to the Drill Mark.
(2) When using the Super Drill as a screwdriver or nut
runner, rotate the clutch ring clockwise and align
the red circle on the clutch ring with the Screw Mark
engraved on the drill body, as shown in
Fig. 3
.
Should the Super Drill be operated when the clutch
ring is set between the Drill Mark and Screw Mark,
it will be damaged.
Always ensure the clutch ring is set to the correct
position.
6. Mounting the bits
Insert the drill bit or driver bit fully into the drill
chuck, and secure it firmly with the chuck wrench.
There are three holes in the drill chuck into which
the chuck wrench should be inserted. Tighten each
hole equally in turn. Do not tighten one hole only.
Bits can be removed by following the above
procedure in reverse.
䡬
How to select drill bits
(1) When drilling holes in lumber
Use woodworking drill bits of 15mm diameter or
below. However, for small holes of 6.5mm or below,
use metalworking drill bits.
(2) When drilling holes in metals or plastics
Use ordinary metalworking drill bits. Applicable drill
bit sizes range from a minimum of 0.5mm to a
maximum of 10mm.
䡬
How to select driver bits
To avoid damage to screw heads and/or bits, ensure
that a bit appropriate to the diameter of the screw
head is selected.
7. Fixing the side handle
Always hold the body handle and side handle of the
power tools firmly. Otherwise the counterforce
produced may result in inaccurate and even
dangerous operation.
HOW TO USE THE SUPER DRILL
1. Switch operation and speed adjustment
䡬
Pull the trigger switch and depress the switch
stopper. The switch will remain ON even when the
finger is removed, facilitating continuous operation.
By pulling the trigger switch again, the switch
stopper is disengaged, and the switch is turned OFF
when the trigger switch is released.
䡬
Drill speed can be regulated between 0 – 2600/min
by varying the degree by which the trigger switch is
pulled. Speed increases as the trigger switch is
pulled, and reaches a maximum speed of 2600/min
when the trigger switch is pulled fully.
2. Drill operation
(1) Pressure on the drill
Excessive pressure on the drill will not increase its
drill speed. Excessive pressure not only damages
the tip of the drill bit and decreases operating
efficiency, it also shortens the life of the drill.
(2) Penetrating the material
When drilling completely through the material, be
very careful not to break the drill bit. It is very
important to decrease the amount of pressure on
the drill when penetrating the material, and maintain
a well balanced posture throughout the drilling
operation.
