Check Before Starting

CAUTION: If your machine is equipped with forward/
reverse selector switch (7), be sure to turn the switch in
the OFF position before starting the engine to ensure
safety.
1. If your machine is equipped with the battery disconnect
switch, check that the switch is in the ON position.
2. Check that both forward/reverse lever (2) and forward/
reverse switch (4) are in the neutral (N) position and
neutral lever lock (3) is in the LOCK position.
If your machine is not equipped with forward/reverse
switch (4), set only forward/reverse lever (2) in the
neutral (N) position.
If the machine is equipped with joystick steering
(optional), put the Forward/Reverse switch on the left
console in the neutral (N) position. For information on
operating joystick steering (optional), refer to the section
“Joystick Steering” in Chapter 13.

NOTE: Unless forward/reverse lever (2) and forward/reverse
switch are in neutral (N), the engine will not start.
3. Check that parking brake switch (1) is in the ON position.
After the engine starts and checking indicator bulbs
(refer to page 3-5), check that the parking brake indicator
is ON.
4. Check that bucket control lever (5) and lift arm control
lever (6) are in the neutral (N) position.
