8.2 Terms Used for motionCAT
8.2.1 Motionnet Communication LSI
There are two types of communication LSI; the center device (G9001) and the local device. The local device
includes the DIO device (G9002), the motion device (G9003), and CPU emulation device (G9004).

name
Functions
Center device
G9001
Executes communication control to all the local
devices connected to a line.
Local
device
Motion device
G9003
Executes motion control for one axis. (Positioning
only)
G9103
Executes motion control for one axis. (With
interpolation function)
DIO device
G9002
Consists of 4 input/output ports. Executes I/O control.
CPU emulation device
G9004
Mainly sends/receives data to/from the master board
using data communication.
8.2.2 Master Board
This is the board in which the center device is installed. Communications of the motionCAT system is controlled
with this board.
8.2.3 Line
Lines include the serial communication line, communication line, and the transmission line of the center device.
In addition, the ID number of the center device line installed in the master board is called the line number.
8.2.4 Slave
A slave is a unit composed of a communication board and multiple modules (1 to 6 modules). There are two
types; HMG type and HUG type.
8.2.5 Module
A module is the circuit board for assembling a slave. Modules include motion (P, C), DIO (D, T), and analog (A)
modules.
Each of them is identified by a module ID. Module IDs can be set from 00h to 3Fh (0-63).
8.2.6 Module ID
A module ID is an address (ID) to identify each module. It is set with the M ID rotary switch on the communication
board.
8.2.7 System Communication and Local Device Information
This is a communication to retrieve the connection status, device type, and input/output port settings of each local
device.
These pieces of information on local devices are called the local device information.
