Field Operation
Operation Safety Checklist
9
NEVER allow bystanders near snow blade while
mounting.
9
When not in use, lower the snow blade to the ground.
9
Inspect all fastening devices, do not use if worn or
damaged.
9
Ensure your power unit equipment is properly rated
for the snow blade model.
9
Be familiar with the work area for hidden obstructions.
This section describes how to safely and effectively operate the SB series snow blade in the field of operation. By
following recommended procedures, a safe working environment is provided for the operator, bystanders and the area
around the work site. Not all situations and conditions can be addressed, proceed with care & caution and use safety as
your guide.
The owner or operator
has the responsibility of being familiar with the operation of the SB series and must train all other
operators before they start working with the snow blade.
Work in a safe manner and follow all instructions exactly, safety is everyone’s business. Untrained operators are not
qualified to use the snow blade.
9
Make sure that everyone is clear before moving the
snow blade.
9
Do not allow anyone between the power unit and the
attachment while it is running.
9
Where possible, avoid operating near ditches,
embankments and holes.
9
Inspect power unit for safe operating condition, check
that brakes, lighting, beacons and indicators are
operational, and wear a seat belt.
• Training: each operator must be trained and familiar
with the set up and operation of the equipment and its
components. Review:
• Components and Features
• Operation Safety Checklist
• Power unit operators manual
• For worker safety and prevent equipment and property
damage, a preseason site visit is recommended.
Make a site clearing plan to identify hidden obstacles,
structures and piling areas.
• Survey the work site, remove debris and make note of
nearby obstructions.
• Review your particular method of attachment, ensure
all pins and locks are secure. A flat area will make
attachment easier and safer.
• Clear the area of bystanders, especially small children.
Prepare
• It is recommended that operators and helpers wear
appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
PPE equipment is designed to prevent injury to any
personnel in the area. This list includes but is not
limited to:
• Safety shoes with slip resistant soles.
• Safety glasses.
• Hearing protection.
• Heavy or leather gloves.
