ChASSIS TUNING GUIDE
Changing the shock oil will change the damping characteristics of the shocks. Typically, if you are running on smooth surfaces, use a
heavier weight shock oil. If you are running on rough surfaces, use a lighter weight shock oil.
n
Adjusting Shock Damping - Front and Rear
recommended initial settings
l
We recommend using the 25wt shock oil that the shocks are already filled with. Because the
Outlaw RTR Brushless Buggy
is
relatively light, we don't recommend using shock oil any heavier than 45wt.
q
Remove the 3 x 18.5mm Round Head screw and the 2.5mm lock nut from the upper shock mount, then remove the shock (with the
shock mounting stud attached) from the shock tower.
q
Remove the 2.5 x 14mm Round Head screw from the lower shock mount, then pull
the shock from the lower suspension arm.
q
Remove lower spring holder from the shock shaft, then remove the spring and the
upper spring holder from the shock body.
q
Using a pair of pliers with a piece of cloth to protect the shock cap, carefully loosen
(turn counter-clockwise) and remove the shock cap from the shock body.
q
Pull the shock shaft all the way down, then drain the existing oil from the shock body.
Fill the shock body with shock oil until the oil level is just below the top of the shock
body, then pump the shock shaft up and down several times to dissipate any air
bubbles from the shock oil. Top off the shock oil level if necessary, before reinstalling
the shock cap.
Tighten the shock cap firmly
.
q
Reinstall the shock spring and spring holders, then reinstall the shock onto the lower suspension arm and the shock tower. Installation
is the reverse of removal.

The slipper clutch is a traction control device that uses two metal plates and two fiber pads to control how much power is transmitted
from the motor to the transmission. Adjusting the slipper clutch allows you to fine-tune how your
Outlaw RTR Brushless Buggy
reacts
when giving it throttle. Adjusting the slipper clutch too tight will usually result in the
Outlaw RTR Brushless Buggy
spinning out of control
instead of accelerating. Adjusting the slipper clutch too loose will result in very poor or no acceleration at all.
The slipper clutch should be adjusted based on the type of track or other surface you're driving on. For example, if you're driving on a
high-grip surface, the slipper clutch can be adjusted tighter without the tires spinning or slipping. If you're driving on a looser surface
with less traction, loosening the slipper clutch will allow good acceleration without the tires spinning or slipping.
n
Adjusting the Slipper Clutch
recommended initial settings
l
We recommend leaving the slipper clutch at the factory setting for the first few times you drive your
Outlaw RTR Brushless Buggy
,
then adjust as necessary to suit.
We suggest adjusting the slipper clutch in 1/4 turn increments until you're satisfied with the result. After making each adjustment,
accelerate the
Outlaw RTR Brushless Buggy
for a short distance while carefully watching how it reacts.
q
Remove the 2.6 x 6mm Round Head Self-Tapping screw from the top of the gear
cover, then pull the gear cover off.
