Before first use
WARNING
Risk of burns due to hot surfaces
Only grasp the appliance by the han-
dle.
WARNING
Risk of scalding due to escaping water
vapour.
Avoid contact with the water vapour
which can escape from the appliance.
ATTENTION
Risk of damage to the non-stick coating of
the baking surfaces.
Do not use any pointed objects or
steel utensils to remove the waffles
from the appliance.
Before the first waffles are baked, the
appliance must be allowed to heat up for a
few minutes while empty to remove resi-
dues due to manufacturing processes
from the baking surfaces. Also for this
reason, the first waffles produced in the
new appliance should not be consumed
due to hygienic considerations.
Proceed as follows:
1. Wipe off the appliance with a damp
cloth.
2. Apply vegetable oil to the baking sur-
faces (6, 7) with a saturated cloth.
3. Close the cover (4).
4. Set the temperature control to the
highest level (5).
5. Put the mains plug into a socket. The
red indicator lamp (1) lights and the
appliance begins heating up.
6. Wait a few minutes until the green in-
dicator lamp (2) lights up. Unplug the
mains plug from the socket.
7. Open the cover.
8. Allow the appliance to cool down.
9. Clean the appliance and the accesso-
ries as described in the
chapter
Cleaning and care (page 19).
Please note:
You may notice an odour or a little smoke
which result from manufacturing materials
such grease the first time you use the
appliance. This is completely normal!Just
ensure adequate ventilation.

Non-stick coating
The baking surfaces (6, 7) are treated with
a ceramic non-stick coating. This for the
most part prevents the waffle batter from
sticking. Furthermore, it is scratch re-
sistant, easy to clean, resistant to
high-temperatures and environmentally
friendly.
