Disposal, reusing used machines
9.2.3 Carbon brush control
The carbon brushes are wear parts of the motor.
The carbon brushes must be checked every 50 operating
hours. If the length of the carbon brushes is less than the
marking, they should be replaced at short notice.
Proceed as follows to check or replace the carbon brus-
hes:
Step 1: Open the motor cover with a screwdriver.
Step 2: Loosen the retaining spring (Pos. A, Fig. 20) and
carefully remove the carbon brush (Pos. B, Fig.20)
from the bearing. Loosen the carbon brush wire
(Pos. C, Fig. 20), remove the carbon brush and
check.
Fig. 20: Replace the carbon brush
Step 3: If the carbon brush is worn to the mark, replace
the worn carbon brush with a new one of the
same size. Check the ease of movement of the
carbon brushes in the bearing.
Step 4: Repeat the steps for the 2nd carbon brush.
10 Disposal, reusing used machines
In your own interest and to protect the environment make
sure that all machine components are exclusively dis-
posed of in as intended and permitted.
10.1 Decommissioning
Disused machines must be decommissioned immedi-
ately to prevent misuse at a later point and putting the
environment or persons at risk.
Step 1: Remove all environmentally hazardous process-
ing materials from the used machine.
Step 2: If necessary, disassemble the machine into as-
semblies and components that are easy to han-
dle and suitable for recycling.
Step 3: The machine components and processing mate-
rials must be disposed of using the intended dis-
posal methods.
10.2 Disposal of electrical equipment
Note that electrical equipment contains a variety of recy-
cling-capable materials and also environmentally haz-
ardous components.
Please help to separate these components and dispose
of them responsibly. In case of doubt, contact your local
waste disposal authority. Consult a specialist disposal
agent for recycling if needed.
10.3 Disposing of lubricants
Lubricant manufacturers provide disposal information for
the lubricants used. If necessary, request product-spe-
cific data sheets.
NOTE!
Have the condition of the carbon brushes checked by
qualified personnel at regular intervals.
ATTENTION!
Always replace the carbon brushes in pairs!
