OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Preheating the device
• For your espresso to have the correct temperature, the device must be preheated.
• Check to make sure the steam/hot water control (4) is firmly closed (
STEAM OFF
position), and there is
water in the water tank (3).
• Place the desired filter (8, 9) in the filter holder (10) (without coffee). Place the filter holder under the brew
head (15) and turn it to the right. Make sure it is firmly attached.
• Put a cup under the filter holder. The cup will be pre-warmed, and you can use it to serve the espresso.
• Connect the power plug (7) to an appropriate outlet. Turn the function knob (5) to the
position (heating).
The indicator light (2) will come on. Wait until the device has finished heating.
• As soon as the
OK
indicator light (1) comes on, turn the function knob to the position. Let hot water run
into the cup, until the
OK
indicator light switches off. Return the function knob to the
position (heating).
• Remove the filter holder, and empty out any water left in it. You are now ready to make your first espresso.
Preparation with ground espresso coffee
• Preheat the espresso machine (see section
Preheating the device
).
• Check to make sure there is sufficient water in the water tank (3).
• If you wish to make just one cup of espresso, place the smaller filter (8) in
the filter holder (10). Put a level measuring spoon (11) of espresso coffee
into the filter.
• Use the larger filter (9) to make two cups of espresso, and put 2 level
measuring spoons of espresso coffee into the filter.
• Spread the ground coffee evenly and tamp it down with the coffee tamper
(11) (fig.1).
•
Please note:
Do not tamp the ground coffee too firmly into the filter. It will
make the coffee flow too slowly, and produce dark coloured foam. However,
not tamping firmly enough will make the coffee flow too fast, and very little,
very light foam will be generated.
• Wipe any remaining ground coffee from the rim of the filter holder.
• Attach the filter holder (10) to the brew head (15). Start with the handle of
the filter holder pointing to the left, and then turn it to the right until it is
firmly locked in place (fig.2).
