SERVICING YOUR OUTBOARD MOTOR
Engine Oil Level Check
Check the engine oil level with the
engine stopped and the outboard
motor in the vertical position.
To avoid incorrect gauging of the
engine oil level, inspect the oil level
when the engine has cooled.
1. Unlock and remove the engine
2. Remove the oil filler cap/dipstick
and wipe it clean.
3. Insert the dipstick and screw it in,
then remove it and check the oil
level shown on the dipstick.
4. If the oil level is low, add oil to
reach the upper limit mark shown
on the dipstick. Use the oil
recommended on p. 65.
Running the engine with a low oil
level can cause engine damage.
5. Install the oil filler cap/dipstick and
tighten it securely.
6. Install the engine cover (p. 61), and
lock it in place by locking the
engine cover latch.
