PROBLEM
CAUSE
REMEDY
4
The starter operates but the engine does
not start.
No petrol feed
Check the leads for the carburettor
solenoid valve opening control (HF2218)
(see 7.9)
Faulty ignition system
Check that plug caps are positioned
correctly
Check that the spark plugs are clean and
the electrodes are correctly spaced
5
The starter motor continues to turn after
engine started, and does not stop when
the key is removed
Mechanical difficulties with the contact
breakers of the starter relay
Give several light knocks to the casing of
the relay. If this does not free it, replace
Loose earth connection to frame causing
sparks and vibrations of the relay contacts with
consequent mechanical jamming
Check for good earth connections to relay
and frame
Starter works erratically for mechanical or
electrical reasons taking excessive current and
binding of relay contacts
Check that the starter motor is not
overheating
6
The starter motor operates as soon as
the key is in the «ON» position, and can
be turned off only by removing the key
Short circuit on starter
Install a new starter, taking care to connect
the cables correctly
Operating problems on PCB
Replace PCB
7
The battery warning light does not come
on when the key is in the «ON» position,
but the lawn-tractor works
Fault in the electronic circuit or in the LED
Replace PCB. (This operation is not strictly
necessary in that the failure only affects the
indicator light and does not affect the
satisfactory operation of the Lawn-Tractor)
8
Battery warning light on or failure to go
out a few minutes after engine started
Battery insufficiently charged
Check that the battery charging cable is not
disconnected
Check for draining of charge caused by
worn insulation on leads
Check that regulator is working efficiently
(see 7.8)
Loose earth connection to regulator (HF2218) Check earth connection to regulator
9
The LEDs come on in an abnormal and
uncontrolled manner. The PCB operates
irregularly
The PCB is damp
Dry with low force warm air
Loose earth connection
Check and put right
10
On engaging blades the engine stops
Engagement is inhibited. (see summary logic
table 7.2)
Check the blade microswitch (see 7.3)
Check that the collecting bin and stone
guard are correctly fitted, and check the
corresponding micro switch (7.3)
Check that the lever located under the seat
actuates the microswitch when the
operator is in the seated position: if the
problem persists, check the corresponding
microswitch (see 7.3)
11
The engine stops while in use, not due
to the protection devices
Activation or failure of corresponding safety
systems (see 7.3 and 7.7)
Check microswitch and relative cables (see
7.3 and 7.7)
An electric cable has come adrift
Check all cables
From serial n° 8611667: motor running not the
drive is engaged permitted (see summary
table 7.2)
Check that the driver is in position when
(on mechanical drive models)
Check that the driver is in position when the
drive engagement pedal for forward or
reverse movement is pressed (on
hydrostatic drive models)
Check that the drive engagement pedal is
not pressed for forward or reverse
movement when the parking brake is
engaged (on hydrostatic drive models)

6.3 A fuse blows
Short-circuit or overload on the power side of
the card (lights, light switch, ignition unit,
starter relay-CN 1 pin 1 ÷ 9)
Search and replace faulty part
(see 7.4 - 7.5 - 7.6)
Short-circuit or damage to the card protection
system
Try changing the card with one that is
known to work. If the problem stops,
replace the original card
