WARNING
:
To perform any maintenance, troubleshooting, or replacement of
components, ensure that power is disabled at the breaker.

The head covers must be reinstalled in the same locations from
which they were removed. Make sure that the locations are marked
on the interiors of the covers when they are removed.
9.9.4.1.
Head air purge
Both heads are purged with clean dry air to keep the interiors free of
moisture and dust. To maintain this system:
1.
Check the air supply filter daily for dirt, and replace as necessary.
The head purge uses the air from the high-pressure circuit.
2.
Check the filter/water trap on the air regulator daily. The regulator
should auto drain. If it does not, drain the water from the regulator
as necessary by shutting off the air and resetting the pressure to the
correct value.
3.
Check the User Station for
High Humidity
warnings daily. If a
warning is displayed, check for leaks, a broken window, loose head
covers, and other possibilities. Light condensation will dry out
quickly, but head interiors that have filled with water will require
considerable time to dry out. It may be necessary to remove the
head and dry it out in an oven. The oven temperature should be set
at 43°C (110°F). It will take several hours to dry out the moisture
that is trapped between the sheet guide and the sensor platform.
4.
The air purge flow is set at the factory, but the flow should be
checked whenever the head covers are removed. The flow can be
checked by using a very small amount of soapy water brushed on
the purge fitting (see Figure 9-12). If no flow is detected:
•
Check the air pressure setting on the pressure gauge mounted
to the manifold on the head support arm. Minimum pressure
setting is 3.4 bar (50 psi).
