scanner scans smoothly and accelerates and decelerates quickly
without hunting for the required speed.
3.
If the scanner does not scan, check for and correct the following
possible problems:
a.
A crash switch on the scanner or any emergency stop switch
at either end of the scanner is open
b.
Basis weight and/or ash (X-ray) receiver electronics are not
plugged in
c.
The head separation (clutch) interlock is open
d.
Motor controller internal protection disables the motor
controller if the average power exceeds a limit – the motor
controller will display
PF
:
•
Verify that the output is not shorted or that there is not a
high friction load on the scanner
•
There is an over-temperature cutout on the PMP (MSS)
that may have cut power to the motor controller. All
power to the PMP (MSS) cabinet is cut, so you will note
no signs of power within the cabinet.
4.
Test to determine whether or not the scanner can scan in the
manual mode:
a.
Set the manual/computer switch (on the bottom of the cable
end termination board) to
Manual
. Then switch the frame
controller board to
Scanner Shop Mode.
b.
Press the SCAN/FORWARD button (on the cable end
termination board) to scan toward the distant end support.
c.
Scan the heads to the limit switch and verify limit switch
operation by observing the appropriate LEDs on the cable
end termination board. Also verify that the preset switch is
working by observing its LED on the cable end termination
board. If the limit or preset switch is not working, verify the
mechanical operability of the head carrier magnet and the
reed switches of the limit and preset switches.
