Scanner Maintenance
9.8.5. Verifying drive motor torque
1.
Place the scanner in Shop mode. The switch is on the Termination
PCB in the cable end of the scanner.
2.
Ensure that the heads are moving in a smooth and uniform
manner. If the torque adjustment or scan speed is set too low, the
heads may move in a stop/start or jerky fashion.

N
OTE
:
This type of movement may also be caused by
other factors, such as dirty tracks, belt tension
set too high, scan speed set too low, etc.
3.
While the heads are scanning, test the torque by trying to stop the
heads from moving by applying physical resistance of 22.7 kg (50
lb). Use one hand on each head.
W
ARNING
:
Be prepared to move out of the way of the
head in case the torque is set too high and
the head does not stop.
4.
If the above step is successful and the heads are scanning smoothly,
no torque adjustment is required. Place the scanner in Host mode
on the frame controller.
9.8.6. Verifying torque setting with motor controller
panel
1.
Locate the motor controller. On 4022-30 scanner models, the motor
controller is located in an environmentally controlled enclosure in
the cable end of the scanner. On 4022-31 scanner models, the motor
controller is located inside the remote PMP cabinet enclosure.
2.
The AC Tech motor controller limits the maximum torque of the 3-
phase motor by limiting the current to the motor. Parameter 25 sets
