temperature setpoint can be adjusted over a small range (10°) by adjusting
a pot on the Temperature Control PCB.
2.12.1.2.
Head air temperature control
Air is blown continuously by two fans mounted on a water-to-air heat
exchanger (radiator) to cool and circulate the air in the heads and around
the sensors. The heat exchanger is supplied with coolant that also
circulates through the platform.
Heat may be added to the air by trim heaters located behind the fans
should the temperature drop below 38°C (100°F). Power to the heaters is
controlled by a proportional controller located on the top of the ECU with
temperature feedback from a thermistor also located on top of the ECU to
measure the internal air temperature. The internal head air temperature
setpoint is set on this trim controller (see Table 2-4).
Head internal temperature should be held constant between 38°C (100°F)
and 49°C (120°F) and most importantly should vary less than ±1°C
(±1.8°F). Under most conditions, the ideal internal head temperature is
40°C (104°F). When the temperature rises above limits that are preset in
the Precision Platform software, the scanner automatically sends the
heads off sheet.
An over-temperature safety circuit, within the logic board PCB turns off
sensor power when the internal head temperature (detected by the
thermistor on top of the ECU PCB) rises above 60°C (140°F). This value is
not adjustable.
