These instructions are only intended for use with the CE certified EVAMASQUE filtering escape device in
compliance with the DIN Standard n° 58647-7 (Filter ing devices for self-rescue - Requirements, testing, marking).
The EVAMASQUE filtering escape device must only be used in accordance with the instructions given here.
Incorrect use might result in danger to life or limb.
PROTECTION AND USAGE
EVAMASQUE must be used only for self-rescue in escape situations and should not be used for a continuous
period exceeding 15 minutes.
It is manufactured in strict compliance with DIN standard n° 58647-7 for class duration of 15 minutes (at nominal
concentration of toxics, ie 0.25% by volume), when used with the HONEYWELL filter ABEK reference 1728571 to
protect against inhalation of organic, inorganic gases and vapours, sulphur dioxide, hydrogen chloride and other
acid gases, ammonia and organic ammonium compounds).
This period may be reduced in the case of high concentrations, or if low boiling point chemicals are present.
The filters are non-reusable (single use only).
Storage
•
Store the escape device in its original packaging or in a sealed container so that it is protected from sun
and dust.
•
Do not expose to direct sunlight
•
Storing time with the same filter = 4 years (refer to the date shown on the 4-color seal label on the side of
the protective shell)
•
Maximum service life of the product = 12 years (will require 2 filter changes if the EVAMASQUE is never
used)
Pre-use checks
•
Make sure that the protective shell is not damaged.
Unpacking instructions
•
Remove the adhesive tape sealing the EVAMASQUE (Fig. 1)
•
Carefully remove the filtering escape device from the packaging (Fig. 2)
•
Check that the equipment is complete and free of damage. The filtering escape device must not be used if
it is damaged or incomplete.
Put on the filtering escape device
1.
Set the wider part of the faceblank under the chin (Fig. 4).
2.
Set the strap above the ears so that it is on the top of the head (Fig. 4).
Warning
•
The filtering escape device must not be used in oxygen-deficient atmospheres, in keeping with
applicable national standards.
•
The filtering escape device is a half mask and therefore does not provide protection to the eyes and
skin which may be affected by concentrations of ammonia and ammonium compounds in much
lower concentrations than specified in the DIN standard n° 58647-7.
•
Must not be used for protection against carbon monoxide
•
Do not use the filtering escape device if an effective face seal cannot be achieved. Refer to use
instructions.
•
Do not use the filtering escape device if the protective shell or adhesive tape is damaged or the seal
is broken. Refer to maintenance instructions.
•
The seal of the filtering escape device is also affected by size and facial structure of the user, e.g.
beard hair, deep scars, sideburns, etc.
•
Do not remove the filtering escape device before leaving the contaminated area.
•
The filtering escape device provides limited protection against low boiling point solvents
•
The filtering escape device provides limited protection against high concentrations of hazardous
substances (filtration duration will be reduced, or filter can become inefficient at very high
concentrations).
•
Do not use filtering escape device in tanks or confined spaces.
•
The filtering escape device is designed for use in escape situations. Please consult the supplier if
you have any doubt as to whether the respirator is suitable for the situation in which you intend to
use it.
