B to connector B on the ControlNet module.
7.3.6
Connecting to the Server ControlNet Interface module for the
PC
The following procedure describes connecting drop-cables from your ControlNet taps to PCIC cards in
your Experion server. For the procedures for connecting drop-cables to the ControlNet modules in your
controller or I/O chassis, refer to
Connecting to ControlNet Interface modules
CAUTION
Do not connect more than one ControlNet network to the PCIC card. If you attempt to connect a
second network to the card, your communication system will operate erratically.
If you connect the PCIC card to a ControlNet network that does not support redundant media,
connect the tap drop-cable to the BNC connector labeled channel A. Channel B is left open.
If the ControlNet network is redundant, connect all devices on the network to the same cable for
the same channel. All channel A connectors connect to one cable and all channel B connectors
connect to the other. Also, make sure you follow established conventions and standards for
identifying drop-cables as described in the Planning Guide,
Planning Your Taps,Planning for
drop-cable identification.
The PCIC (model TC-PCIC01) cards for the computer include three connectors for connecting to your
ControlNet network (see
). These connectors provide two basic options for connecting the card's
host computer to the network.
l
Network Access Port (NAP): This connector is not for general use with Experion systems.
l
Redundant Media Cable A and B connectors (BNC-type) are used to provide direct connection to
your ControlNet Network.
