Hard drive LEDs
When a hard drive is con
fi
gured as a part of an array and attached to a powered-on controller, the
status of the hard drive can be determined from the illumination pattern of its LEDs.

SCSI hard drive LEDs
Each SCSI hard drive has three LEDs. The following
fi
gure and table describe their locations and
meanings.

The hard drive is being accessed in
one
of the following ways:
•
The hard drive is not con
fi
gured as part of an array.
•
The hard drive is a replacement and rebuild has not yet
started.
•
The hard drive is spinning up during POST.
Do not remove the hard drive. Removing a hard drive at this
time could terminate the current operation and cause data loss.

The hard drive is being accessed in
one
of the following ways:
•
The hard drive is part of a con
fi
gured array that is being
selected or updated by the ACU or MSA-CLI.
•
The hard drive is being upgraded.
•
The hard drive has been selected for identi
fi
cation in HP-SIM,
ACU, or MSA-CLI.
Do not remove the hard drive. Removing a hard drive at this
time can cause data loss in non-fault-tolerant con
fi
gurations.

The hard drive is not being accessed and is not con
fi
gured as
part of an array. If necessary, it is safe to replace the hard drive.
This hard drive is in

of the following states:
