To recover the original menu in the CALCULATOR MODES input box,
press the
L
key. Of interest at this point is the changing of the CAS
settings. This is accomplished by pressing the
@@CAS@
soft menu key. The
default values of the CAS setting are shown below:

To navigate through the many options in the CAS MODES input form, use
the arrow keys:

To select or deselect any of the settings shown above, select the underline
before the option of interest, and toggle the
@
@CHK@@
soft menu key until the
right setting is achieved. When an option is selected, a check mark will
be shown in the underline (e.g., the
Rigorous
and
Simp Non-Rational
options above). Unselected options will show no check mark in the
underline preceding the option of interest (e.g., the
_Numeric, _Approx,
_Complex, _Verbose, _Step/Step, _Incr Pow
options above).

After having selected and unselected all the options that you want in the
CAS MODES input form, press the
@@@OK@@@
soft menu key. This will take you
back to the CALCULATOR MODES input form. To return to normal
calculator display at this point, press the
@@@OK@@@
soft menu key once more.
Selecting the independent variable
Many of the functions provided by the CAS use a pre-determined independent
variable. By default, such variable is chosen to be the letter
X
(upper case) as
shown in the CAS MODES input box above. However, the user can change
this variable to any other letter or combination of letters and numbers (a
variable name must start with a letter) by editing the
Indep var
field in the
CAS MODES input box.
