Verifying and Booting Superdome
Enabling iCOD
105
Enabling iCOD
iCOD stands for Instant Capacity On Demand. It refers to the additional processors that are shipped with the
Superdome but have not been purchased by the customer. These processors are not immediately available for
customer use but can be activated when the customer needs more computing resources.
As part of the installation procedure, you need to test each E-mail connection that notifies Hewlett-Packard
when the customer has allocated additional CPUs beyond the amount that they initially purchased.
You must remind the customer to verify that E-mail can be sent from each partition You must also remind
the customer of the requirement to download the license. While these tasks are the customers responsibility,
you should assist and verify that they have been completed as part of the installation process.
IMPORTANT
Each bootable partition requires a connection to the internet to send E-mail to notify
Hewlett-Packard that the customer has allocated additional CPUs beyond the amount initially
purchased. Each bootable partition must be configured to perform this operation.
IMPORTANT
Ensure that the customer is aware that if they are taking advantage of the iCOD program
downloads and accepts the iCOD license.
Complete information about iCOD, including enabling processors, is contained in the document, Instant
Capacity On Demand (iCOD) Familiarization Guide. It is located at http://superdome.hp.com. Click on the
iCOD link and display the Familiarization Guide. For information about the notification procedure, refer to
the section of the guide called Installation Checklist for New iCOD System.
