Booting a Superdome Using a DVD
If the system your are installing does not have “instant ignition” (a feature that allows the system to boot
automatically as soon as it is installed), or if it fails to boot, you may have to boot using a DVD that contains
the operating system and other relevant files.
To boot from the DVD:
Step 1. Load the operating system CD-ROM into the DVD drive.
Step 2. At the Guardian Service Processor (GSP) Main menu, enter
co
.
To return to the GSP Main Menu from the GSP Command Menu, enter
ma
.
You will see a list of the partitions.
Step 3. Enter the number of the partition you want to boot and press Enter.
Step 4. In a few moments, press Enter once or twice and you should see the BCH prompt (Main Menu:
Enter command or menu>).
Step 5. Enter
di
to display a list of the BCH commands.
Step 6. Enter
pa
to display the path for the partition you selected in step 3.
The path command lists the paths for the primary, HA (High Availability) alternative, and the
alternate boot paths.
Step 7. Change the path to the DVD device.
Step 8. Enter
bo
.
The partition will boot using the path you specified.
Step 9. When the ISL prompt appears, enter
hpux
.
