Zoning Version 3.1.x/4.1.x User Guide
Modifying Configurations
To make changes to an existing configuration, add, delete, or remove individual
elements to create the desired configuration. Once the changes have been made,
save the configuration. This ensures the configuration is permanently saved in the
switch, and it also ensures that the configuration is replicated throughout the
fabric.
The switch configuration file can also be uploaded to the host for archiving, and it
can be downloaded from the host to all switches in the fabric. See the
configupload
and
configdownload
commands in the HP StorageWorks
Fabric OS Version 3.1.x/4.1.x Reference Guide.
Before Merging Zones
To facilitate merging, check the following before merging switches or fabrics.
■
Zoning licenses—All switches must have a Zoning license enabled.
■
Native operating mode—All switches must be in the native operating mode.
■
HP Secure Fabric OS—If any one switch has HP Secure Fabric OS enabled,
all switches in the fabric must have HP Secure Fabric OS. Refer to the HP
StorageWorks Secure Fabric OS Version 1.0 User Guide for more
information.
Adding a New Switch
When a new switch is added to the fabric, it automatically takes on the zone
configuration information from the fabric. To add the new switch, attach the
E_ports, and the new switch is incorporated into the fabric and the enabled zone
configuration. By using the
cfgShow
command, the zoning information
displayed will be the same on each switch in the fabric
A new switch is a switch that has not previously been connected to a fabric with a
zoning configuration, and has no zone configuration data entered into it. A switch
that is configured for zoning may be returned to this new switch state by using the
cfgClear
and
cfgSave
commands before connecting it to the zoned fabric,
or by using
cfgClear
and
cfgDisable
if there is an effective
configuration.
