PCI Bus Problems
PCI bus problems at startup are usually indicated by the inability of the system to
detect the PCI device. The following steps can be used to diagnose the likely cause of
PCI bus problems.
1.
Five volt PCI adapters are not allowed.
2.
Confirm that the PCI option card is supported and has the correct firmware and
software versions.
3.
Confirm that the PCI option card and any cabling are properly seated.
4.
Check for a bad PCI slot by moving the last installed PCI option card to a different slot.
5.
Contact HP Service to replace the PCI riser card.
PCI Parity Error
Some PCI devices do not implement PCI parity, and some have a parity generating scheme
that may not comply with the PCI specification. In such cases, the device should function
properly if parity is not checked.
Parity checking can be turned off with the
set pci_parity off
command so that false PCI
parity errors do not result in machine check errors. However, if you disable PCI parity, no
parity checking is implemented for any device. Turning off PCI parity is therefore not
recommended or supported.
