MEDIA SENSOR CALIBRATION
This procedure calibrates the optical media sensor threshold value stored in the EEROM.
The value represents what the sensor should detect without media present.
Perform the media sensor calibration whenever the:
Media Sensor Calibration is accessible through the “Service Tests” menu. To perform the me-
dia sensor calibration, do the following:
1. Press Enter at the “Status” display.
2. Use the arrow buttons to scroll to the “Utilities” main menu. Press Enter. Either the
Short or Full menu mode will access the “Service Test” submenu.
3. Simultaneously press the Enter and the Up Arrow buttons to access the “Service
Test” submenu.
4. Scroll to the “Media Sens Calib” submenu. Press Enter.
5. Messages in the plotter display will inform you to remove media if present and to
press the Enter button before and after calibration.
6. After completion of the calibration, cycle plotter power to invoke the new threshold
value in the EEROM.
Note
If the “Service Test” submenu cannot be accessed because of the media sen-
sor failure, press the Enter and the Up Arrow buttons simultaneously while
powering on the plotter. The initialization routine will be altered so as to
check the media sensor. The “Service Test” submenu should now be acces-
sible so that the media sensor calibration may be performed.
