If you’re configuring your system for broadband Internet connectivity, the digital
entertainment center tries to auto-configure the network setup (through DHCP). If the
auto-configure fails, or if you choose to modify the settings, you can accept or change
each of the following settings onscreen:

advanced settings
When you select
Advanced network settings
, the settings outlined below appear onscreen.
To make changes, select
Modify advanced settings
, then select the appropriate item.
host name
Specify the fully qualified host name for your digital entertainment center (host name and
domain in the format “hostname.domain”). You can select any host name you choose. You
can find your home network’s domain name in your PC’s network settings.
home networking
All home networking parameters are configured (and networking is enabled) for broadband
users who are sharing a broadband connection through a router. Dial-up users can install the
digital entertainment system onto a home network by entering the appropriate IP address,
network mask, gateway and name server. See “installing and setting up” on page 73 for
information about these settings.
