Memory Modules (under service door)
NOTE:
A computer having a system board with spare part number 690643-001 or 696441-001 has
four memory slots. In this case, the primary memory is located under the keyboard and expansion
memory is located under the service door.
A computer having a system board with spare part number 690642-001 or 696440-001 has two
memory module slots. In this case, the primary memory is located under the service door.

Before removing a memory module, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet,
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the battery (see
5.
).
Remove the memory module:
1.
Position the computer upside down, with the front toward you.
2.
Spread the retaining tabs
(1)
on each side of the memory module slot to release the memory
module. (The edge of the module opposite the slot rises away from the computer.)
