WWAN module
NOTE:
The WWAN module and the WLAN module are not interchangeable.
NOTE:
Models that do not have a WWAN module installed will have a rubber insert installed in the WWAN
socket. Either a WWAN module or a rubber insert must be installed in the WWAN socket. The socket must
never be empty.
The rubber insert is included in the Plastics/Rubber Kit, spare part number 844400-001.

Before removing the WWAN module, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.
4.
Remove the bottom cover (see
Bottom cover on page 28
).
5.
Disconnect the battery (see
Battery on page 29
).
Remove the WWAN module:
1.
If you are installing a WWAN module onto a system board with a rubber insert installed, remove the
insert.
2.
If you are replacing an existing WWAN module, gently peel the foam strip from atop the antenna
connectors and screw (1).
NOTE:
The foam strip is available in the Plastics/Rubber Kit, spare part number 844400-001.
