Configuring flow classification
To implement differentiated services, flow classification categorizes packets to be forwarded by a
multicore device according to one of the following flow classification policies:
•
Flow-based
policy
—Forwards packets of a flow to the same CPU. A data flow is defined by
using the following fields: source IP address, destination IP address, source port number,
destination port number, and protocol number. This policy takes the first-in first-out rule.
•
Packet-based
policy
—Forwards packets in sequence to different CPUs, even though they are
the same flow. This policy does not ensure packet order.

Specifying a flow classification policy
IMPORTANT:
If a service requires packets of a flow to be received by the same CPU, you must use the flow-based
policy.
To specify a flow classification policy:
Step Command Remarks
1.
Enter system view.
system-view
N/A
2.
Specify a flow
classification policy.
forwarding policy { per-flow |
per-packet }
By default, flow-based policy is used.
