Before removing the heat sink, follow these steps:
1.
Turn off the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect the power from the computer by unplugging the power cord from the computer.
3.
Disconnect all external devices from the computer.

Remove the battery (see

Remove the heat sink:
1.
Turn the system board upside down with the front toward you.
2.
Following the 1 through 4 sequence stamped into the heat sink, loosen the four Phillips captive screws

that secure the heat sink to the system board.

Remove the heat sink

NOTE:
Due to the adhesive quality of the thermal material located between the heat sink and the
system board components, it may be necessary to move the heat sink from side to side to detach it.
NOTE:
The thermal material must be thoroughly cleaned from and reinstalled on the surfaces of the heat
sink

each time the heat sink is removed.
