Turning the press on and off 55
Preparing the press
Use the following procedure to prepare the press:
1
Make certain that all the subsystems are assembled on the press.
2
Make certain the blanket was cleaned the preceding day.
3
Load the substrate type for the first job to be printed.
4
Close all doors.
5
Turn on the press. See ‘Turning the press on’ on page 54.
6
On the control panel, click
Get Ready
. The press drums begin to roll and the various
subsystems power up. When the preset conditions are met, the press machine state
changes to Ready.
The diagnostic windows of the press schematic let you monitor blanket temperature, ink
tank temperature, ink concentration, and ink conductivity as they move from stage to
stage towards printing condition.
You will be prompted to replenish consumables, such as ink, substrate, blanket, and the
PIP. But most routine procedures, such as applying cleaner page, and adjusting color
levels, are automated (unless you configure the machine to ask for operator confirmation).
7
Jobs are generally prepared at remote desktop publishing stations. Job printing
properties are defined on the RIP. You should receive a ready-to-print (press-ready)
file that requires only minor adjustments, such as number of copies, and so on.
