I/O expansion chassis
The following external I/O expansion chassis are available for HPE Integrity MC990 X Servers:
• 1U-high Magma I/O expansion chassis (provides four PCIe slots)
• 2U-high Cubix I/O expansion chassis (provides two x16 GPU card slots)
• 3U-high Trenton I/O expansion chassis (provides one PCIe and eight PCIX slots)
Each I/O expansion chassis is a CRU.
Refer to the OEM documentation for each I/O expansion chassis for instructions on the following tasks:
• Installing the I/O expansion chassis
• Installing PCI-X/PCIe/GPU cards in the I/O expansion chassis
• Replacing a failing I/O expansion chassis
Magma I/O expansion chassis
NOTE:
The Magma I/O expansion chassis is no longer actively offered/sold. However, there are existing
customer installations where support will be required.
The 1U-high Magma I/O expansion chassis supports from one to four PCIe cards. The four PCIe slots
have the following capabilities:
• Slot 1: Full-height, doublewide, Gen 2.0, x16 PCIe slot
• Slot 2: Full-height, singlewide, Gen 2.0, x4 PCIe slot
NOTE:
Slot 2 will be blocked when a double-wide card is installed in slot 1.
• Slot 3: Full-height, singlewide, Gen 2.0, x8 PCIe slot
• Slot 4: Full-height, singlewide, Gen 2.0, x4 PCIe slot
All four PCIe slots use x16 connectors.
NOTE:
The two x4 slots provide connectivity only - not performance.
