Connecting a serial device to a wireless network
TCP serial functionality allows devices that have no no native Ethernet or wireless connectivity to
access the network through a serial port. In this scenario, the HP 501 enables a point-of-sale
terminal to exchange traffic with a remote host. The point-of-sale terminal is connected to the
serial port on the HP 501. To connect it to a wireless network, the HP 501 converts traffic
between the serial data format and TCP/IP.
