Electrical and Mechanical Safety Information
Precautions for Products with
Hot-Pluggable Power Supplies
Observe the following guidelines when connecting and
disconnecting power to the power supplies:
❒
Install the power supply before connecting the power
cord to the power supply.
❒
Unplug the power cord before removing the power
supply from the server.
❒
If the system has multiple sources of power,
disconnect power from the system by unplugging all
power cords from the power supplies.
Precautions for Products with External
Television Antenna Connectors
In addition to the general precautions described earlier in
this chapter, be sure to observe the following precautions
when using external television antennas with your
product. Failure to observe these precautions could result
in fire, bodily injury, and damage to the equipment.
Compatibility
HP television tuner cards with antenna connections
should be used only with HP personal computers that are
intended for home use.
External Television Antenna Grounding
If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the
product, be sure the antenna or cable system is
electrically grounded to protect against voltage surges
and built-up static charges. Article 810 of the National
Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information
about proper electrical grounding of the mast and
supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an
antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors,
location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to
grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding
electrode.
Lightning Protection
To protect an HP product during a lightning storm or when
it will be unattended and unused for long periods of time,
unplug the product from the electrical outlet and
