If an Error is detected by the Power-On-Self-Test
If an error is detected when the Personal Workstation starts, the Error
Message Utility (EMU) is launched.
•
Follow the instructions provided by the EMU.
•
If prompted by the EMU, press
to run Setup and correct the
error (refer to page 86 for information on using Setup).
•
Press
to continue and ignore the error. (It is recommended that
you fix the error before proceeding, even if the Personal Workstation
appears to start successfully.)
Corrective actions for errors that may prevent your Personal
Workstation from starting are described in the following table.

Ensure the configuration stored in CMOS memory has not been cleared
by the system board switch (refer to page 115).

Run Setup to correct the configuration information.

If all the above fail to correct the problem, the system board may need
to be replaced. Contact your service representative.

Run Setup and correct the errors highlighted by the Setup program.

Ensure the configuration stored in CMOS memory has not been cleared
by the system board switch (refer to chapter 5). Make a written note of
the configuration.

If the hardware was changed, run Setup to update the configuration
information.

What you should do:

Ensure that nothing is pushing down on the keyboard, and that no key is
stuck down.

If the problem persists, contact your service representative.
