3.17 List of instruments
3.17.1 Airspeed Indicators
Any approved aircraft airspeed indicator with an effective range of at least 30-
270 km/h (16 - 150 kts, 19 - 170 mph) can be used. The approved maximum
instrument error is ±2.5% (±7.0 km*h, ±3.75kts, ±4.25mph).
The airspeed indicator must be marked in compliance with the Sailplane Flight
Manual, Section 2, Par. 2.3 Airspeed indicator markings.
Suitable ASI: Winter 7FMS441, Winter 6 FMS 4, Winter 6 FMS 5, PZL PR-350S
PZL PR-400S-A and their latter approved versions.
3.17.2 Altimeters
Any approved altimeter for use in aircraft with Millibar or Mercury scales can be
used providing the instrument will measure altitudes up to at least 20000 feet.
Suitable altimeters: Winter 4 FGH 10, Winter 4 FGH 20 , Winter 4 HM 6,
PZL W-10 SC, PZL W-10 SA, PZL W-12 SA and their latter approved versions.
3.17.3 Variometers
Any approved variometer for use in aircraft with a range of at least ± 5m/s, ±
1000 ft./min can be installed provided it is approved also for cloud flying.
Suitable variometers: Winter 5 StV5, Winter 5 StVM5, PZL WRs-5E,
PZL WRs-5D, PZL WRs-30C and their latter approved versions.
3.17.4 Magnetic Compasses
Any approved non-stabilized type magnetic compass can be used.
Suitable compasses: Ludolph FK 5, Ludolph FK 16, PZL BS-1, KI-13 and their
latter approved versions.
3.17.5 Turn and Bank Indicators
Any approved electric turn & bank indicator for use in aircraft can be used,
providing the built-in battery or an additional one is suitable for its power supply.
Suitable T/B indicators: PZL EZS – 3, PZL EZS-5-P , LUN 1211 and their latter
approved versions
