Troubleshooting
If the installation fails
If you have previously installed a modem on your
computer you should uninstall it.
If you are using a Windows computer:
Go to
Control Panel
and select
Add or Remove
Programs
(in XP) or
Uninstall Program
(in Windows Vista
and Windows 7).
If you are using a Mac:
Close the connection program
for the previous modem. Drag the icon to the Trash
and empty the Trash.
If you are unable to connect to the Internet
via your modem
Check that you have coverage for mobile broadband
and that you have installed the modem correctly.
If you are using fixed broadband with a wireless router,
first turn off the wireless network when you want to surf
using your mobile broadband connection.
If it takes a long time before your modem
finds a mobile network
If you have no 4G coverage it may take several
minutes before your modem finds a mobile network.
To reduce the time it takes, you can lock your
modem to 2G or 3G.
Do as follows: First disconnect from the Internet but
keep the modem connected to your computer.
Click
Settings
, then
Options
and
Network
. Then select
Only GSM
or
Only 3G
and click
Use
. Then click
OK
.
NB! If you later use the modem in a location where there
is 4G coverage you will need to change the setting back
to
AUTO
.
If you feel that you are not getting
the best possible speed
For better coverage, place your modem as close
to a window as possible (use a USB extension
cable if necessary).
If your connection jumps between the 2G,
3G and 4G networks
In the connection program for the modem, under
Settings
you can lock your modem to a particular network (this
can only be done when you are not connected). See the
description under the heading:
It takes a long time before
the modem finds a mobile network.
The unit has been disconnected or not available
You can also try pulling out and inserting your
USB modem in a different port. Make sure the coverage
bars have gone up before you connect. Restart your
computer.
