Connecting an SUC to the PC through a serial port

Procedure

Step 1

Determine a connection mode.
The methods of connecting SUCs to the PC and managing the SUCs and SUDs are provided as
follows:

Connect SUCs to the PC through management network ports.

Manage SUCs and SUDs on the ISM.

Procedure for connecting SUCs to the PC through a serial port is:

Manage SUCs and SUDs on the CLI.

Step 2

Establish the connection between SUCs and the PC.

Connect SUCs to the PC through management network ports.

Connect one end of the two network cables to each management network port of SUC's
controllers A and B.

Connect the other end of the two network cables to the switch that is connected to the
PC.

Procedure for connecting SUCs to the PC through a serial port is:

Connect one end of RJ-45 to the serial port of SUC's controller A or B.

Connect the other end (DB9 end or RJ-45 end) of the serial port to the PC's serial port.

Step 3

Route and bind the cables.
