Removing a hot-swap hard disk drive
Important:
Before you remove a hot-swap hard disk drive from the server, take the
following precautions to save data, firmware, and configuration data:
Before you make changes to disk drives, disk drive controllers (including controllers that
are integrated on the system board), disk drive backplanes, or disk drive cables, back up
all important data that is stored on hard disks.
Before you remove any component of a RAID array, back up all RAID configuration
information.
To remove the hot-swap hard disk drive, complete the following steps.
Step 1
Read the safety information and “Installation guidelines”.
Step 2
Make sure you save the data on your drive, especially if it is part of a RAID array, before you
remove it from the server.
Step 3
Push the latch on the handle to the left, then open the drive handle and pull the hard disk
drive assembly out of the server.
Step 4
If you are instructed to return the hot-swap hard disk drive, follow all packaging instructions,
and use any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
