Removing the microprocessor-board assembly
Important:
This procedure is to be performed only by trained service technicians. Before you
remove the microprocessor-board assembly from the server, take the following precautions to save
data, firmware, and configuration data:
Record all system configuration information, such as IMM IP addresses, vital product
data, and the machine type, model number, and serial number of the server.
Save the system-event log to external media.
To remove the microprocessor-board assembly, complete the following steps.
Step 1
Read the safety information and “Installation guidelines”.
Step 2
Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect the power cords and all external
cables as necessary to replace the device.
Step 3
Remove the top cover (see “Removing the top cover”).
Step 4
Remove the top cover bracket (see “Removing the top-cover bracket”).
Step 5
Remove the power supplies (see “Removing a hot-swap power supply”).
Step 6
Remove the I/O-board shuttle from the microprocessor-board assembly (see
“Removing the
I/O-board shuttle”).
Step 7
Remove the memory cards and memory card fillers (see “Removing a memory card”).
